Uems and Funsat launch Portuguese courses for migrants in Brazil

The Funsat School and the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul (Uems) have launched a new Portuguese language course specifically designed for migrants. This initiative is part of the ‘Uems Acolhe’ project, a collaborative effort between the university and the Social Work Foundation (Funsat).

This third edition of the program features a class of 22 students and will run for 12 weeks, totaling 60 hours of instruction. Beyond basic language skills, the program includes socio-educational support and welcoming workshops to assist migrants with the challenges of adapting to life in Brazil.

The training program has already served over 300 participants across five municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul, including the capital, Nova Andradina, Corumbá, Dourados, and Cassilândia.
