UFABC and Ubatuba advance teacher training partnership

The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) and the Ubatuba Department of Education are advancing a partnership focused on teacher training that emphasizes ancestral knowledge and traditional communities. During a recent meeting, students presented 11 proposals for new course subjects designed to integrate the wisdom of indigenous peoples, traditional communities, and peripheral territories into academic curricula.

These proposals were submitted to the UFABC Graduation Commission and are intended to become limited-option subjects within the Rural Education degree program, with a projected rollout by 2028. The initiative aims to foster anti-racist education and bridge the gap between academic study and the cultural practices of students' home communities.

Additionally, the 6th Licentiate Week at the UFABC Santo André campus featured academic presentations and exhibitions. These activities allowed students to share pedagogical and cultural experiences related to their origins, promoting educational practices that recognize social, historical, and cultural diversity.
