UFRN student assaulted during protest involving General Girão

Henrique Neiva, a 28-year-old student at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), was assaulted during a protest on Monday afternoon. The victim sustained bruises and a fractured tooth, requiring a forensic medical examination.

The incident occurred during a protest organized by the “Endireita RN” profile via a WhatsApp group titled “UFRN Anti Lula.” This group is reportedly administered by Allison Lobato, the cabinet secretary for Federal Deputy General Girão (PL-RN). The deputy was involved in the action alongside state deputy Camila Araújo.

Witnesses reported that verbal insults escalated into physical violence as protesters attempted to advance toward the university. Messages obtained from the WhatsApp group included comments celebrating the aggression, such as “He didn't get hit enough.” The case has been officially registered with the Civil Police.
