Uganda detains parliament officials and district engineer in anti‑corruption raids

Uganda's Inspectorate of Government arrested eight senior parliamentary officials, including communications director Chris Obore, human‑resources director Daniel Adilo and executive secretary Leonard Okema. The officials were taken into custody after being summoned to give statements and are to appear before the Anti‑Corruption Court on charges of misusing public funds and abuse of office.

In a separate case, the State House Anti‑Corruption Unit captured former Kamuli District Engineer Mufumba Daniel in Mbale after months on the run. He is accused of diverting more than 600 million shillings intended for road construction, with investigators linking the fraud to a company allegedly controlled by him. Local Government Minister Balaam Barugahare praised the anti‑corruption team led by Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke for the arrest.
