Uganda Film Festival launches nationwide screenings and industry training

The 13th edition of the Uganda Film Festival (UFF) has commenced nationwide screenings, showcasing over 50 homegrown films across various cinema outlets, including Century Cinemax, EMT Cinema, and NuMax Cinema. Organized by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in partnership with MultiChoice Uganda, the event highlights local storytelling and provides audiences the chance to view films nominated for the Viewers’ Choice award.

The winners of the public-voted category will be announced at the Uganda Film Festival Awards Gala on August 28, 2026. In addition to the screenings, the festival is hosting a three-day Screenwriting Masterclass at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communication Technology (UICT) in Nakawa. Facilitated by the Screen Writers Guild Uganda, the masterclass aims to improve technical skills, content distribution, and the commercialization of local audio-visual productions.
