Uganda Inspectorate of Government probes FUFA for fund mismanagement

The Inspectorate of Government (IG) has launched a sweeping investigation into the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) regarding the alleged mismanagement of public funds. In a directive signed by Inspector General of Government Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, the federation has been ordered to provide extensive documentation covering nearly a decade of operations.

The inquiry focuses on several key areas, including broadcasting rights agreements with StarTimes and Star DTV (Uganda) Company Limited, the transfer of commercial rights to FUFA Media Services Limited, and the development of Kadiba Stadium. Investigators are specifically examining why broadcasting fees were directed to FUFA Media Services Limited rather than the federation itself, and how revenue from the Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League has been distributed to clubs.

FUFA must submit certified bank statements from July 2021 to August 2026, audited financial statements dating back to 2016, and a complete schedule of all bank accounts held by the federation. The probe also encompasses government grants, procurement files, property ownership, and the management of national team accommodation and football development projects.
