Uganda: Museveni pledges regional security support amid investor concerns

President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to mobilize East African leaders to strengthen the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF). During a meeting with EASF Director Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, Museveni committed to supporting efforts to convene an EASF Summit, which has not been held since 2014, to renew political commitment and strategic direction. The President also pledged to assist in improving the force's financial capacity for humanitarian assistance and rapid deployment.

Separately, concerns have been raised regarding administrative hurdles within Uganda's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. Reports indicate that over 100 foreign investors are considering leaving the country due to delays in the signing of mining and exploration licenses. Critics have attributed these delays to indecision and lack of cooperation within the ministry, suggesting the situation undermines national economic goals.
