Uganda petroleum projects reach advanced stages ahead of first oil
Ugandan Members of Parliament on the Committee on the Budget have completed an oversight visit to major petroleum development projects to evaluate progress toward the country’s first oil production.
The delegation, led by Chairperson Amos Kankunda, inspected several key sites, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Pump Station One, the Kabaale Industrial Park, the Kingfisher Development Project, and the Tilenga Project. The visit was coordinated by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, and the Uganda National Oil Company.
Project updates indicate that the EACOP, a 1,443-kilometre pipeline designed to transport crude from Hoima to Tanga, Tanzania, has reached 92% completion and has entered the pre-commissioning and testing phase. The Kingfisher Development Project is 90% complete, with all required production wells drilled. The Tilenga Project stands at 78% completion, with 256 wells drilled to date.
