Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua meet to discuss opposition unity

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka met with Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County on Monday. The discussions focused on efforts to forge a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 general election.

DCP Secretary General John Methu stated that the leaders have committed to agreeing on a single presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto. This follows recent meetings at the same residence involving other opposition figures, including Linda Mwananchi leader Edwin Sifuna.

President William Ruto responded to the meeting by mocking the discussions, suggesting that Musyoka was undergoing a degrading 'interview' similar to his experience during the 2022 election cycle. Ruto also referenced their political history dating back to 1992, suggesting Musyoka should return a favor from his early parliamentary campaign.
