UN Women Italy report highlights gender gap in workforce
The second National Report from UN Women Italy, produced in partnership with Deloitte, highlights a persistent gender gap in the Italian workforce. Despite women obtaining higher educational qualifications and achieving better academic results than men, they continue to face significant obstacles in professional life.
Key findings indicate that women work less, have fewer career advancement opportunities, and are underrepresented in decision-making roles. Additionally, women face greater economic insecurity upon reaching retirement. The report, presented at the Senate of the Republic, provides a roadmap of concrete proposals to move from formal equality to substantive equality by addressing obstacles that accumulate throughout a woman's life, from education and maternity to professional progression.
