UIN Ar‑Raniry Banda Aceh studies cooperative and think‑pair‑share models to boost primary school learning

Researchers at Universitas Islam Negeri Ar‑Raniry Banda Aceh evaluated two classroom‑based instructional approaches in Indonesian primary schools. In one study, Lia Amelia applied a cooperative learning model called “the Power of Two” supported by Articulate Storyline video media to a fourth‑grade class at SD Negeri Lamklat. Over two cycles, teacher activity rose from 82.6 % to 91.3 %, student activity from 82.3 % to 92.4 %, and the proportion of students meeting learning targets increased from 60 % to 80 %.

In a separate investigation, Cut Putri Atikah implemented a Think‑Pair‑Share strategy using story‑card media with fifth‑grade pupils at SDN Labuy Aceh Besar. Across two cycles, teacher activity improved from 79.2 % to 89.2 %, student activity from 76.0 % to 87.5 %, and the rate of students achieving satisfactory writing scores rose from 71.9 % to 87.5 %. Both projects suggest that structured peer‑interaction models combined with digital or visual media can markedly enhance teacher engagement, student participation, and learning outcomes in elementary education.
