Primary education research in Aceh

Researchers from Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh have conducted several studies to evaluate instructional models aimed at improving primary school learning outcomes in Aceh, Indonesia.

Initial research focused on cooperative and peer-interaction models. One study utilized the ‘the Power of Two’ model with digital video media to increase student activity and learning targets in fourth-grade classes. Another investigation implemented a ‘Think-Pair-Share’ strategy using story-card media for fifth-grade pupils, which resulted in improved writing scores and higher levels of teacher and student engagement.

Subsequent studies expanded into specific subject areas and different methodologies. Research at MIS Lamgugob Banda Aceh examined the use of ‘word riddle’ media to enhance cognitive results in Civics (PKn) education, specifically regarding national and cultural diversity. Additionally, a study at SD Negeri 1 Klieng tested a ‘group investigation’ model to combat low student motivation, successfully increasing activity levels through classroom action research.
