Ujaan Shivarama summits 6,250-metre Kang Yatse II peak in Ladakh

Ujaan Shivarama, a 15-year-old mountaineer from Bengaluru, has successfully summited the 6,250-metre Kang Yatse II peak in the Zanskar range of Ladakh. This achievement makes him one of the youngest Indian climbers to reach the summit.

The expedition faced extreme environmental challenges, including heavy snowfall and temperatures dropping to -15 degrees Celsius. Out of a group consisting of 14 experienced mountaineers and 10 sherpas, only three individuals successfully reached the peak. Shivarama’s route included trekking through the Pensing, Sara, Markha, Hankar, and Nimaling regions before establishing base camp for the final ascent.
