Ujjain Khade Hanuman idol remains unmoved during relocation attempts

In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, authorities have encountered significant challenges while attempting to relocate a historic eight-foot standing Hanuman idol from the Khade Hanuman Temple. The relocation is part of a road-widening project intended to prepare the city for the Simhastha 2028 festival.

While the surrounding temple structure has been dismantled, multiple attempts to move the idol using heavy machinery, including cranes and JCBs, have reportedly failed. This has led to a surge of devotees visiting the site, many of whom view the idol's refusal to move as a divine sign.

Local administration officials have addressed rumors regarding the relocation efforts, stating that they will not take further action without scientific guidance. To ensure the safety of the ancient statue, which experts suggest could be up to 1,000 years old, a team from IIT Indore has been called in to conduct technical inspections. Experts are using modern scanning equipment to examine the idol's foundation and depth to determine if it is connected to a larger underground structure or an interlocking mechanism common in the Parmar dynasty era.
