UK and Ghana expand cooperation on cybersecurity and trade

The United Kingdom and Ghana are expanding their bilateral cooperation across cybersecurity and trade administration.

In the realm of digital security, the Ghana Cyber Security Authority and the British High Commission are working to deepen collaboration to combat cybercrime, financial fraud, and online threats to children. Discussions focused on capacity building, international cyber governance, and the Pall Mall Process, which promotes responsible state behavior in cyberspace. The partnership also aims to enhance digital safety education for secondary students and improve regional responses to evolving cyber threats in Africa.

Simultaneously, the two nations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). This agreement aims to strengthen customs administration and facilitate legitimate trade. The partnership will provide technical assistance and capacity building, specifically focusing on strengthening the GRA’s Post Clearance Audit function through the HMRC Accelerate Trade Facilitation Programme. This initiative is part of the broader UK-Ghana Growth Partnership intended to support economic growth and more efficient trade processes.
