UK-Ghana cybersecurity and trade cooperation
Overview
The United Kingdom and Ghana are expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of cybersecurity and trade administration.
In digital security, the Ghana Cyber Security Authority and the British High Commission are collaborating to combat cybercrime, financial fraud, and online threats to children. This partnership focuses on capacity building, international cyber governance, and the Pall Mall Process to promote responsible state behavior in cyberspace. Efforts also include enhancing digital safety education for secondary students and improving regional responses to cyber threats in Africa.
Regarding trade, His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen customs administration and facilitate legitimate trade. Through the HMRC Accelerate Trade Facilitation Programme, the partnership will provide technical assistance to strengthen the GRA’s Post Clearance Audit function as part of the broader UK-Ghana Growth Partnership.
