UK and Ireland brace for heat surge up to 35°C

Britain is forecast to experience its next official heatwave within days, with temperatures potentially reaching 35 °C later in the month as high pressure and continental winds push the weather warmer. Meteorologists from the Met Office warned that the southeast could see up to 35 °C, while other regions are expected to rise into the low‑30s.

In Ireland, Met Éireann predicts a sudden heat surge this weekend, with 18 counties in Leinster and Munster expected to see temperatures of up to 22 °C. The warmest conditions are projected for the south‑west on Sunday, after which rain is forecast to return on Monday and temperatures will fall back to the mid‑teens.

Both forecasts suggest a brief return to summer‑like sunshine before cooler, wetter weather resumes early next week.
