UK average house price rises 0.2% in June, ending four‑month decline

The Lloyds house price index showed the UK average house price rose 0.2% in June to £299,330, marking the first month‑on‑month increase since February. Annual growth edged up to 0.6%.

Lloyds head of mortgages Amanda Bryden said, “House prices rose for the first time in four months during June, increasing by 0.2%, compared to May.” She added that the market outlook depends on inflation easing and household confidence improving, noting that mortgage rates have recently softened despite stretched affordability.

Industry voices highlighted that confidence, rather than price levels, drives activity. Purplebricks chief executive Michael Bruce linked a brief slowdown in recent weeks to the World Cup and warm weather, saying these factors had a “short‑term impact.” Regional data showed strong annual gains in Northern Ireland (+7.4%) and Scotland (+3.9%), while southern England continued to see price declines.

The index, formerly the Halifax house price index, is now fully under the Lloyds brand after the historic Halifax rebranding.
