UK broadband providers push full‑fibre upgrades as customers lag behind

Openreach’s £4.2 million upgrade in the coastal town of Cleethorpes has brought full‑fibre broadband to about 14,000 homes and businesses, covering 95 % of properties. Despite the network being in place, thousands of residents continue to use slower connections, often unaware they can switch to gigabit‑capable service. Openreach urges households to check availability via its Full Fibre checker and to place orders with their chosen providers.

At the same time, Shropshire‑based ISP Aquiss has refreshed its offerings on the FullFibre Limited network, which reaches roughly 600,000 premises across the UK. New plans include a symmetric 2.5 Gbps package at £65 per month (half‑price for the first three months) and a flexible gigabit option at £36 per month, both with unlimited data, free installation, static IP addresses and a guarantee of no mid‑contract price rises. These developments highlight the continued expansion of the UK’s full‑fibre infrastructure and the challenge of driving consumer adoption.
