UK campaign urges NHS to approve Enhertu for metastatic breast cancer

Kathryn Hulland, a 47‑year‑old mother from Devon diagnosed with metastatic HER2‑low breast cancer, has joined a campaign demanding that the NHS make the targeted drug Enhertu available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The drug, which can extend survival to about two years compared with roughly 17.5 months on chemotherapy, is already approved in Scotland and across 26 European countries.

Breast Cancer Now, together with METUPUK and Make 2nds Count, argues that a postcode‑based “lottery” denies thousands of patients access to this life‑extending treatment. A recent poll of 2,000 UK adults found 78 % concerned about the inequity and 82 % support making Enhertu available on the NHS. The charities urge health officials to finalize a deal so patients like Hulland can gain additional precious time with their families.
