UK Engineering Sector Showcases Innovation and Tackles £5.2 bn Skills Gap

At the Advanced Engineering exhibition in the United Kingdom, presenter Guy Martin described the event as a showcase of extensive innovation across aerospace, automotive, defence, energy and advanced manufacturing. He said the range of technologies and expertise on display challenged the view that British engineering is lagging.

Separately, trade bodies Enginuity and the Construction Equipment Association signed a memorandum of understanding to provide sector‑specific workforce data for policymakers. The partnership aims to address an estimated £5.2 billion annual loss caused by engineering skills shortages, feeding intelligence into Enginuity’s Policy Centre as the UK transitions to a new Growth and Skills Levy framework.
