UK eVisa system error strands woman in Spain

Webb was prevented from boarding her return flight because her digital identity could not be verified. She described the situation as a “known technical problem” affecting certain twins within the Home Office system. Despite receiving verbal assurances from officials that the issue would be resolved, the confirmation email was mistakenly sent to her sister instead of her, causing Webb to miss her flight and incur additional costs for a new ticket.

A spokesperson for the Home Office stated that over 10 million people have successfully used eVisas to prove their immigration status. The department emphasized its commitment to data accuracy and noted that most errors are resolved within 24 hours.
