UK expands Global Talent visa for R&D workforce

The UK has expanded its Global Talent visa program to support more than 100 companies in recruiting international researchers and engineers. This expansion, facilitated by UK Research and Innovation, allows a wider range of organizations to host or employ applicants who contribute to work supported by endorsed funders.

Eligible companies operate within eight high-growth sectors identified in the government’s Modern Industrial Strategy, including advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, clean energy, life sciences, and the creative industries. Participating entities include the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), JLR, GKN Aerospace, and various UK higher education institutions.

Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Jonathan Reynolds stated that the move aims to make it easier for innovative companies to recruit researchers to develop future technologies and medicines, thereby underpinning the nation's industrial strategy and driving economic growth.
