UK families utilize Tax-Free Childcare to reduce costs

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) reports that 601,620 families have utilized the Tax-Free Childcare scheme to reduce their expenses. In June, the government added more than £55 million in top-ups to these accounts, with families receiving an average of £93 each.

The scheme allows working parents to save up to £2,000 per year for each child up to age 11, or up to £4,000 per year for children up to age 16 if they have a disability. For every £8 deposited by parents, the government provides a £2 top-up. Funds can be used for various approved childcare services, including nurseries, before and after school clubs, and activity clubs during school holidays.
