Turkey economic indicators show mixed trends in housing and business

Turkey's economic indicators for mid-2026 show mixed trends across the housing, corporate, and consumer sectors.

In the housing market, the Central Bank reported that while nominal prices rose by 25% annually in July, real prices fell by 5.1%. Regional variations were significant, with Istanbul and Ankara seeing monthly increases, while Izmir experienced a decline. Rental prices rose by 32.4% annually, with the highest increases in the Black Sea region.

Corporate data from TOBB indicates that in the first seven months of 2026, the number of newly established companies increased by 7.4%, though cooperative formations dropped by 20.1%. July specifically saw a 2.5% decrease in new company formations compared to the previous year.

Economic sentiment shows signs of recovery and shifting expectations. The Real Sector Confidence Index rose to 102.4 in August, driven by positive outlooks on export orders and production volume. Meanwhile, the Consumer Confidence Index rose slightly to 90.8 in August. However, inflation expectations among financial sector representatives have trended upward, with year-end 2026 forecasts rising to 30.47%.
