UK livestock industry hosts educational events for sheep and beef sectors
The UK livestock industry is hosting several educational events focused on improving production efficiency and sustainability in the sheep and beef sectors.
The Institute of Meat will hold a sheep industry education day on September 15, 2026, at Brighouse Farms Ltd in Cheshire. The program aims to explore how breeding, finishing, and carcass traits influence meat yield, eating quality, and retail value. The event will feature demonstrations on all-season breeding protocols, livestock assessment from a butcher's perspective, and discussions regarding the future of the British lamb market in relation to climate and economic priorities.
Additionally, AHDB is conducting a series of events titled ‘Stronger herds for stronger returns’ to support the suckler beef sector. These sessions, scheduled for October in West Sussex, North Yorkshire, Cheshire, and Gloucestershire, will feature experts discussing cattle health, nutrition, and market outlooks. The goal is to help farmers develop more profitable and resilient beef production systems.
