UK Met Office forecasts heatwave in south and intense thunderstorms in north
The Met Office has issued a yellow heat‑health alert for the East Midlands, East of England, London and the southeast, running from Wednesday to Monday. Temperatures are expected to reach the low 30 °C in the southeast and the high 20s across much of England and Wales, creating typical summer heat‑wave conditions in the south.
Meanwhile, low pressure over the north‑west is set to bring unsettled weather to northern and western Britain. Forecasts call for frequent cloud, heavy rain showers and blustery winds, with an increased chance of intense thunderstorms later in the week. The agency also warned of high pollen levels that could aggravate hay‑fever sufferers.
