Powerball launches in the United Kingdom, tickets on sale Tuesday

Allwyn, the operator of the UK National Lottery, has partnered with the US Multi‑State Lottery Association to bring the Powerball game to the United Kingdom. Ticket sales begin on Tuesday, with the first draw scheduled for Wednesday night. UK players will pay £4 per line (equivalent to about $5.40) and will compete for the same uncapped jackpot as US players, which is currently estimated at $416 million (£311 million) and can grow to billions of pounds. The odds of winning the jackpot remain 1 in 292 million, identical to the US game. UK tickets will only contribute to the jackpot, while lower‑tier prizes follow a different structure. The launch is supported by a rollout to 43,500 retailers and a major marketing push. Allwyn says the new game could generate up to £1 billion a year for charitable projects across the UK, adding to the £8.1 billion in total National Lottery sales recorded in 2025.
