UK organizations mark Baby Loss Awareness Week with remembrance and support

During Baby Loss Awareness Week, various organizations in the United Kingdom are highlighting bereavement support and holding ceremonies to honor families affected by pregnancy and baby loss.

In Havering, a Ceremony of Remembrance was held at Havering Town Hall. Led by Mayor Councillor Maggie Themistocli, the event allowed attendees to light LED candles and leave messages on tree branches to commemorate lost children. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the emotional impact of loss and encourage compassionate support.

In the North East, the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is emphasizing the specialized services available to bereaved families. Support includes dedicated bereavement midwives and the Serenity Suite at University Hospital of North Durham, which provides a private space away from busy maternity wards. Additionally, Darlington Memorial Hospital has recently updated its bereavement room with improved facilities following funding from NHS England. The Trust also offers clinical photography services to help families create lasting memories.
