UK Parliament faces mounting criticism over assisted dying bill

Former Conservative MP Caroline Ansell, now a director at the charity CARE, described the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill as "irredeemably flawed" in both principle and detail. She warned that assisted‑suicide legislation could lead to abuses against vulnerable groups and urged MPs to reject the proposal.

Campaign group My Death My Decision criticized the government for omitting any reference to assisted‑dying reform in the King’s Speech, arguing that the move disregards clear public and parliamentary support. The group said the bill was blocked in the House of Lords through procedural tactics and called for immediate parliamentary time, the use of the Parliament Act if needed, and a new private‑members’ bill to revive the legislation for terminally ill adults in England and Wales.
