PFA charity mismanagement leads to regulator ban on former finance director
A Charity Commission inquiry found serious mismanagement, conflicts of interest and inadequate financial controls at the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) charity that provides assistance to former players. The watchdog said the charity's poor oversight "let down the players they were supposed to be helping" and put funds intended for those in need at risk.
Finance director Darren Wilson, a former footballer and PFA executive, has been issued a regulatory ban as a result of the findings.
