UK Police Crack Down on Drug Dealing in Manchester and Medway
South Manchester police conducted a plain‑clothes operation in Chorlton that resulted in the arrest of a teenage boy. Officers spotted the youth on an electric bike, detained him after he fled, and discovered £100, empty cannabis bags and, following a search in custody, about 16 wraps of Class A drugs. He was charged with suspicion of supplying both Class A and Class B substances and released on bail pending further investigation.
In Medway, Kent, officers carried out neighbourhood patrols and checks in pubs on 8 May 2026. A 33‑year‑old man and a 49‑year‑old woman were each found with small amounts of cocaine and received community resolutions. A separate operation using a police dog led to the arrest of a 30‑year‑old man suspected of intent to supply after he dropped Class A drugs during a search. Another suspect was stopped on Gillingham High Street, found with Class A drugs and a knife, and was also arrested. Inspectors highlighted the aim of deterring drug possession, ensuring licensed premises’ compliance, and reassuring local communities.
