UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham pledges full support for Ukraine
Andy Burnham, newly appointed UK Prime Minister, told broadcasters he will give President Volodymyr Zelensky “100 percent” backing and that there will be “no change” in the United Kingdom’s assistance to Kyiv. He said he expects to speak with US President Donald Trump by phone and reiterated the UK’s role as a major military and financial ally in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Zelensky thanked Burnham on the social platform X, saying the support for Ukraine will remain “strong and resolute”. The new British leader, formerly mayor of Manchester, has previously worked closely with Ukrainian city mayors and backed humanitarian projects. Analysts note that despite his limited foreign‑policy experience, Burnham is likely to focus on domestic challenges while keeping the UK’s commitment to Ukraine unchanged.
