UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer accuses Elon Musk of stoking division over Southampton student murder

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Elon Musk is trying to cause division by posting about the killing of 18‑year‑old white student Henry Novak in Southampton. Musk shared a video on X that showed police handcuffing Novak as he lay wounded and urged users to spread it, claiming the police acted with racial bias. The murderer, a man of migrant background, was convicted of a life sentence. Starmer demanded that Musk stop interfering in British politics, calling the politicisation of the case “unforgivable”. Far‑right demonstrators also rallied around the incident, leading to clashes with police.

Starmer warned that using the tragedy to fuel tension is unacceptable and urged the billionaire to refrain from further political commentary.
