Yung Filly acquitted of rape but convicted of assault in Western Australia

British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly, whose legal name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was tried in the District Court of Western Australia over allegations that he sexually assaulted a 20‑year‑old fan after a September 2024 performance in Hillarys, a Perth suburb. A 12‑member jury found him not guilty of three counts of sexual penetration without consent and also acquitted him of a choking charge and one assault count. The jury convicted him on two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, relating to bite injuries shown in photographs. Jurors were unable to reach unanimous verdicts on three additional rape charges, leaving those counts unresolved. Barrientos remains on bail and will appear again on 21 August 2024, when a sentencing date for the assault convictions is expected to be set and prosecutors will decide whether to pursue a retrial on the hung rape charges. He wept after the verdicts were delivered.
