UK shoplifters sentenced or given final chance after multiple thefts
Steven Wrigley, a 44‑year‑old identified as a prolific shoplifter, was sentenced to four weeks in prison and issued a Criminal Behaviour Order that bans him from entering Ashton‑under‑Lyne town centre. He pleaded guilty to theft, assaulting emergency workers and breaching a court order after police located him in a car‑park and detained him.
Mark Howourth, a 23‑year‑old from Low Fell, pleaded guilty to eleven counts of shop theft from Morrisons and Co‑op stores in Gateshead, stealing goods worth about £1,335. A district judge deferred his sentence, giving him a final chance to comply with probation and drug‑treatment requirements; any further offence will result in imprisonment.
