Benjamin Day, a 20-year-old forensic science student at the University of Worcester, has pleaded guilty to the murder of 24-year-old Maria Saceanu in Tividale, West Midlands.

Investigators revealed that Day meticulously recreated the ‘kill room’ from the television series ‘Dexter’ within an Airbnb rental. The crime scene featured walls and floors entirely covered in plastic sheeting, along with items such as an apron, a visor, and gloves used by the show's protagonist. Saceanu was stabbed 78 times.

The incident came to light in December 2025 when police encountered Day on the street with a bleeding hand. He initially claimed he had been attacked by a stray dog or a fox, but officers became suspicious and discovered the crime scene at the rental property. Day had also attempted to dismember the victim's body before injuring himself.
