Day lured Saceanu to the location using a disposable phone.

Evidence showed Saceanu was stabbed 78 times, with many wounds inflicted after her death. Day had attempted to dismember the body but abandoned the attempt after injuring his own hand. Following the incident in December 2025, Day sought medical assistance by flagging down police officers, falsely claiming his hand injury had been caused by a fox or a stray dog. Suspicious behavior, including a landlord reporting blood at the property, led officers to the rental site.

Day’s sentencing is scheduled for December 4.
