Łukasz Gibała launches fourth bid for Krakow mayor in September election
City councilor Łukasz Gibała, founder of the association Kraków dla Mieszkańców, announced his fourth candidacy for the mayoralty of Kraków. The early election is set for 27 September after a May referendum removed Aleksander Miszalski from office. Gibała said he will run “so that no one feels excluded and left alone” and emphasized a civic, non‑partisan platform focused on restoring the city’s finances during a short two‑year term.
His campaign will officially start in early August, with the registration of his committee KWW Łukasza Gibała – Kraków dla Mieszkańców. The ballot will also include candidates such as Michał Drewnicki (Law and Justice), Monika Piątkowska (Civic Coalition/PSL), Bartosz Bocheńczak (Confederation), and former New Targ mayor Stanisław Kułach, who has formed his own electoral committee. If no candidate secures a majority, a second round will be held on 11 October.
