Łukasz Gibała officially assumes office as President of Kraków

Łukasz Gibała has officially taken office as the President of Kraków following a formal swearing-in ceremony before the City Council. During the session, he received the city's insignia, including the chain and the key to the city gates, from acting president Stanisław Kracik.

In his inaugural address, Gibała called for political cooperation across divides, emphasizing that the city's residents expect work focused on public good rather than party interests. He identified several urgent priorities, including addressing the city's financial situation, implementing a new economic strategy, managing the balance between tourism and resident quality of life, and improving public transportation.

Gibała also announced his initial leadership team, appointing Karol Wałachowski (spatial planning, economy, and tourism), Jan Hoffman (culture and Clean Transport Zone), and Elżbieta Kois-Żurek (social policy, education, and health) as vice-presidents. Additionally, the City Council unanimously approved a proposal by Gibała to set his monthly salary at the lowest statutory level to assist with municipal savings.
