Łukasz Gibała sworn in as President of Kraków

Łukasz Gibała has been officially sworn in as the President of Kraków following his victory in a by-election. During the ceremony held at the Kraków City Hall, Gibała received the presidential chain and the key to the city gates, pledging to serve the public good and the prosperity of the residents.

Gibała secured a significant victory in the second round of voting, receiving 62.12% of the vote compared to 37.88% for his opponent, Monika Piątkowska. His path to the presidency follows a long-term political effort, resulting in what is described as one of the largest percentage victories in the history of Kraków's direct mayoral elections.

As he assumes office, Gibała faces several immediate challenges, including managing the city's debt and navigating a City Council where his political opponents, primarily the Civic Coalition and the Left, hold a solid majority. His ability to form a working majority and implement his program will depend on his capacity to negotiate with existing council factions.
