Ukraine advances in Donetsk as Russian strikes hit Kharkiv civilians

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched a significant offensive in the Donetsk region as part of the ‘Vivaldi’ operation. Reports indicate that Ukrainian forces have reclaimed approximately 240 square kilometers of territory in the Donbas area, forcing Russian units to retreat near Lyman. This movement has reportedly placed Russian units advancing toward Sloviansk at risk of encirclement.

In addition to territorial gains, Ukrainian forces have reportedly regained control over areas in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Military analysts suggest these maneuvers aim to disrupt Russian logistics and potentially threaten the land corridor to Crimea.

Simultaneously, Russian military strikes have targeted civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv. A guided aerial bomb (KAB) struck a multi-story residential building in the Saltiv district, causing significant structural damage. Local officials report that at least 25 people were injured in the strike, including several children. Other Russian strikes have also been reported in the Kyiv region, impacting educational facilities and residential areas.
