Ukraine and Russia engage in heavy fighting across multiple frontline sectors

Military activity remains intense across multiple sectors of the frontline in Ukraine. In the Sumy direction, Russian assault units have made progress near Khoten and Kiyanitsa, contributing to an encirclement area of approximately 400 square kilometers. Ukrainian forces have responded by transferring reinforcements and rear units from the Chernihiv region to strengthen defenses in Sumy.

In the Kharkiv and Kupyansk directions, reports indicate conflicting movements. While Russian forces have attempted to clear the banks of the Oskol river and strike logistics near Kupyansk-Uzlovoy, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Ukrainian forces recently advanced west of Kalynove and north of Kupyansk. These movements could potentially improve Ukrainian flanking positions around the city.

Further south, Ukrainian forces have seen tactical gains in the Chasiv Yar area, specifically in eastern and central Molocharka and east of Stinka. In the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, combat continues near Lyman and Orikhiv, with both sides engaging in counterattacks and infiltration attempts to secure or defend key positions.
