Ukraine attacks multiple Russian regions, eight civilians killed

On Sunday Ukraine launched strikes on several Russian regions far from the front line, including Belgorod, Saratov and the Udmurt Republic. The attacks killed at least eight civilians – three in Belgorod, two in Saratov and three in Udmurtia – and prompted regional governor Olga Abramova to describe the act as “monstrous in its senselessness.” Russian air‑defence reported intercepting 635 Ukrainian drones overnight.

In the same week Russia carried out a large‑scale missile and drone barrage on Kyiv, killing ten people and wounding dozens. Ukrainian officials said only one of the 35 missiles was intercepted. Ukraine also reported a shortage of Patriot‑system missiles. The European Union approved an additional €3.47 billion for Ukrainian defence, part of a €90 billion loan package that has already provided €8.5 billion. The U.S. Senate backed further sanctions against Russian officials during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington.
