Ukraine conflict sees drone strikes on SBU and territorial gains near Lyman

The conflict in Ukraine continues to see significant developments in drone warfare and territorial shifts. In Kyiv, a Russian drone strike targeted the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), injuring at least 12 people and causing damage to a UNESCO World Heritage site. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces report a tactical success near Lyman, where they have reportedly cut off a Russian salient and regained control over more than 200 square kilometers of territory.

Technological advancements in defense are also emerging. The Brave1 consortium announced the development of a low-cost air defense system designed to intercept Russian S8000 ‘Bandarol’ rocket-drones. Additionally, US troops in Germany have been participating in training exercises focused on counter-UAV systems, utilizing the Merops AS-3 Surveyor interceptor drone, which has seen combat use in Ukraine.

Experts warn that Russia may be preparing for another large-scale aerial assault, noting that the military has been accumulating munitions over the past ten days. Aviation experts suggest that despite Ukrainian efforts to intercept ballistic missiles, Russia maintains a significant surplus of launch systems.
