Ukraine deploys domestic FP-7 ballistic missile in combat

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the first combat use of the FP-7, a domestically produced Ukrainian tactical ballistic missile. The announcement, made via social media, included video footage of a launch, though the specific target and location of the strike were not disclosed.

Developed by the Ukrainian aerospace firm Fire Point, the FP-7 is designed as a cost-effective alternative to the American ATACMS system. According to Fire Point's chief designer, Denys Shtilerman, the missile is approximately half the cost of its US counterpart. Technical specifications indicate the missile has a range of between 200 and 300 kilometers, can carry a warhead weighing up to 150 or 200 kilograms, and reaches speeds of approximately 1,500 meters per second.

The successful deployment marks a transition from prototype testing to the next phase of mass production. Additionally, the manufacturer noted that the technology is being integrated into the European Freyja missile defense program, with a prototype expected in the first half of next year.
