Russian missile strike kills 10 at Kyiv defence exhibition

On 24 July 2026 Russian ballistic missiles hit a private training ground in the Kyiv region where a defence‑industry exhibition was being held. The event showcased Ukrainian and foreign‑made drones and other weapons. Ukrainian officials reported at least ten fatalities and around one hundred injuries.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a rescue operation and said investigations were under way. Prosecutor‑General Ruslan Kravchenko opened criminal cases for possible war crimes and for alleged negligence by the event organizers. The Russian Defence Ministry later claimed the strike was aimed at UAVs used to attack Russian targets. The attack also coincided with a separate strike on the town of Sloviansk, which caused additional casualties.

The incident has prompted calls for stricter security protocols at similar gatherings and renewed discussion of air‑defence supplies for Ukraine.
