Ukraine establishes military training schools for orphans as Norway boosts aid for deported children

The Ukrainian government has established five boarding schools for children of fallen or wounded soldiers. These institutions serve as both counseling centers for grief and training grounds, preparing students for future careers in the security services and military. This initiative comes as the Ukrainian army seeks approximately 30,000 new recruits monthly to maintain its current force levels.

In a separate humanitarian development, Norway has increased its financial support to assist deported Ukrainian children, detained civilians, and prisoners of war. Norway is providing 15 million NOK to UNICEF to support the reintegration of returned children and the search for missing ones, alongside 10 million NOK to the International Committee of the Red Cross for tracing efforts. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stated the goal is to highlight human rights violations regarding the illegal deportation of children to Russia.
