Ukraine forms Joint Rapid Reaction Forces to boost frontline assaults

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree establishing Joint Rapid Reaction Forces as a new component of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The force will combine assault troops, unmanned systems, artillery and other elements to provide the fastest possible response on the front line. Zelensky said the unit will have a “modern assault” character and a “global impact” on Russia’s war capability.

Brigadier‑General Dmytro Voloshyn was appointed to develop the force, with a focus on technological integration. In the same decree Zelensky created a special long‑range command that will concentrate 100 % of available resources to markedly reduce Russia’s military potential. The president did not name the commander of this new command but described him as a veteran with extensive experience.

The formation is intended to enhance deep‑strike operations, merging drone attacks with ground assaults to target Russian logistical and energy infrastructure. Zelensky highlighted that the new unit will allow Ukraine to execute rapid, coordinated strikes deep inside Russian territory, aiming to weaken Moscow’s combat capabilities.
