Ukraine expands drone‑assault units and AI‑guided strikes on Russian logistics

Ukraine has created its first dedicated drone‑assault formations, exemplified by the "Code 92" unit. These battalions combine reconnaissance and strike drones with artillery support and assault teams to dominate short sections of the front line and conduct rapid counter‑attacks.

The Ukrainian forces are also deploying AI‑aided medium‑range drones to target Russian logistics deep behind the front, focusing on fuel trucks, tankers, supply trains and depots. AI assists navigation, image analysis and final guidance, while human operators retain the decision to strike. Modified Hornet and Darts drones can reportedly reach distances of up to 250 km, enabling a "medium‑strike" campaign that aims to disrupt Russian fuel supplies essential for tanks, generators and other frontline equipment.
